After a long day with your nose to the grindstone all you want to do is sit down and enjoy a well cooked meal. But when both you and the wife can’t be bothered cooking, you grab the keys and head off to one of our many awesome restaurants.

Tonight we chose Tomato Brothers. I love this place, always have and I just can’t get here often enough. They have a little something on the menu that pulls me in like a bee to a flower and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. So without any further dribble, let’s check out what we ordered .

I’m a huge fan of the blue cheese calzone. I love love love it. I’ve had blue cheese on a burger and blue cheese sauce but nothing comes close to the blue cheese calzone. Such a potent ingredient and here’s where it just gets to be the star of the show. A wood fired calzone and a couple of cold beers is very hard to beat. (I saved some to take home with me)

Spicy Chicken Rocket Pesto. I opted for the penne pasta instead of fettuccine.

This was a beautiful rich creamy dish with spices that warmed the palate almost immediately. Not too spicy but certainly a welcome element to the dish. The pasta was well cooked and I took joy in my meal because it was a treasure chest of tasty morsels. The pieces of bacon, chicken and even sweet little pieces of onion made this herby delight very enjoyable. One of those dishes that has your tongue searching behind your teeth for just that little bit more.

Sharon ordered the carnivores feast - calzone

Ham, chorizo, pepperoni, bacon and spicy beef with tomato pizza sauce, sweet chilli sauce and sour cream, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Thanks to the staff at this very cool little restaurant. We had a very enjoyable meal and even managed a couple of doggy bags.
